Maya de Forest is a Winnipeg-based multi-discplinary artist. She holds a BFA in Photography from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and a BMusic in Performance from McGill University. While photography and books have been central to much of her work, de Forest is currently delving into a multimedia project focused around her late father, his Alzheimer’s and his personal archive and collections. Her photo work has been exhibited in Canada, the U.S., and abroad and published in a variety of independent art publications. Her self published book I love here now, was also distributed and sold internationally. As a musician, de Forest has worked with the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, the National Ballet of Canada and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra among other ensembles. Outside of her studio time, she now currently plays with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and teaches music to underserved youth in the community.
